- The Challenge
- Lewis & Hickey were commissioned by Waterstone’s with a remit to firstly create a new store design concept that repositioned the Waterstone’s brand. Secondly L&H Solutions and Safety Management were to manage the implementation of that concept for a prototype scheme and a fast track pilot store re-fit programme. It involved the ongoing development of the concept design throughout the fit out of the prototype store at Manchester Arndale and the subsequent value engineering of that concept which was to be applied and adapted to suit five branch re-fits with different display systems, namely Liverpool, Macclesfield, Reading, Chiswick and Exeter.
- We were required to deliver this significant programme on time, with minimum disturbance to the client’s retail activities and provide high a standard of Occupational Health and Safety Performance throughout the project.
- The Solution
- Through integrating our Planning Supervisor and Project Management roles not only were we able to identify opportunities for both reducing Occupational Health and Safety Risk, we highlighted the critical issues that had an impact on the programme and objectives. The process was not without its difficulties, but through careful assessment of the completed process for future rollout planning we were able to offer our client cost saving opportunities.
